If you live and work in the Coachella Valley – or anywhere in Southern California – owning a hybrid or electric vehicle such as the forthcoming 2024 Range Rover EV is a smart move.

That’s because many Southern California commuters spend an average of 119 hours a year in their car – and they spend an average of just under an hour a day driving. Anyone who lives in Rancho Mirage and works in Palm Springs, for instance, knows they spend a lot of time in their car.

The state of California’s efforts to phase out sales of new gasoline-powered vehicles in the next 10 years is a major step in driving the United States toward an all-electric future and reducing air pollution.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved aggressive targets for electric vehicle sales. It’s also setting new standards for EV’s range of travel and incentives for automakers to sell EVs more inexpensively. This all adds up to a major shift for the nation’s most populous state – one that is the country’s largest car sales market.

“This is the most significant change since we went from horses to vehicles 125 years ago,” Brian Maass, president of the California New Car Dealers Association, told the media recently.

It’s official! The 2024 Range Rover will be the automaker’s first all-electric car.

To meet that growing demand every Land Rover SUV model will have a fully electric option by the year 2030.

By then, Land Rover expects electric models to comprise a full 60 percent of its vehicle sales.

So the introduction of the Range Rover EV, which joins the company’s lineup in 2024, marks the introduction of the first all-electric model and heralds in a new era for the British automaker.

The Range Rover EV will be the first all-electric Land Rover ever. It will be followed by the Range Rover Sport EV and an EV version of the Defender.

Three more Land Rover EVs will join at a later date.

Range Rover is moving toward the MLA Flex platform. That’s a platform that is designed to accommodate gas, hybrid, and full-electric powertrains.

The Land Rover EV is expected to use a specific dual-motor AWD system and surpass the 523 hp and 553 lb-feet of torque of the current Range Rover V8.  It’s also been estimated that it will deliver between 275 and 300 miles of range.

Its silhouette looks nearly identical to the outgoing model. Jaguar Land Rover says it has refined the globally lauded design with a slightly different expression for the new decade.

The Jaguar Land Rover design team has retained the Range Rover’s signature features like the clamshell hood, straight lines, clean and elegant surfaces, and the distinctive taper to the bodywork at the rear.

  1. Refinement. Refinement lies at the heart of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover, providing luxury travel and comfort for up to seven adults. And its technology is designed to make your life easier, from a host of driving features to our award-winning infotainment system, Pivi Pro16.
  2. Plenty of legroom. Both the standard and extended wheelbase versions have had their wheelbases stretched by about three inches: from 115.0 to 118.0 inches in the case of the former and 122.9 to 125.9 for the latter. You enjoy a 1.1-inch increase in rear-seat legroom for the standard and about 1.2 inches for the extended. The extended wheelbase now offers three-row seating for the first time.
  3. It’s loaded with cutting-edge tech. A suite of capability technologies for comfort and confidence includes All-Wheel Steering and Terrain Response® 2 as standard.
  4. New suspension. The rear suspension has been changed from an “integral link” multilink with a complex lower arm to a true five-link setup. This new suspension setup makes rear-wheel steering possible, and this new standard feature cuts some five feet off the turning radius despite the elongated wheelbases.
